Hur Minn (r.) & Kevin Wang (l.)

No, these two gents aren’t a part of The Bordello, but I’m certainly taking queues from their line of Jazz Age inspired suiting.

The two of them always look like they’ve stepped straight out of a Hong Kong gangster flick. Gotta love it.

The whole world of menswear is something I dove into once I got serious about The Bordello. If characters like Enzo Vega and Donnie Dallas are supposed to be clotheshorses walking around in a few grand’s worth of bespoke and designer items, then I figured I’d better damn well know what the hell I was drawing and how it was supposed to look. Since then it’s become an interest about as all consuming as art. Personal presentation is something that most people have the misfortune to neglect, but the image you project is such a crucial thing to consider when dealing person to person. You never know when you might run into someone important…

“Like Moths to Flame”16x20” Graphite and DigitalMy last illustration for Synergism. The assignment was, “connections”, so I chose to illustrate the connection between a moth and a flame. It developed into a story about two former lovers unable to let go. Even though their relationship has long since withered, they still cling to one another despite how unhealthy it is to do so, like how a moth will dance around a candle. The frame is meant to be a part of the illustration to visually reinforce they are petrified in time—like the Lovers of Pompei, or a butterfly under glass. Hung on a wall to glance at every so often and watch as it ever so slowly rots. You can find some detail shots here and process shots here.Chris Baldwin

I was gonna upload all these doodles as a group, but I have yet to complete them all and I felt bad making people wait. So here’s an additional doodle: a woodsy lady for justawildflowerr. This was fun, so I might have gotten a little silly with it. Cheers! :)
